Dual Diagnosis
The expression Dual Diagnosis is used in the health services to refer to people who have difficulties in more than one field. Commonly it refers to those with mental health problems who are also misusing drugs or alcohol, or to those with learning difficulties and mental health problems. IAPT – Improving Access to Psychological Therapies
The NHS Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme aims to improve access to evidence based talking therapies in the NHS through an expansion of the psychological therapy workforce and services.

The Kent Drug and Alcohol Action Team is a partnership organisation responsible for commissioning drug and alcohol services across Kent. Partners include Kent County Council, the Kent Police, Probation and Prison services, the NHS in Kent, and other local organisations.
KMPT – Kent and Medway Partnership Trust
Statutory mental health services are delivered through a partnership between health services (the NHS) and social care services (local authorities), and in Kent this partnership is the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust, commonly abbreviated to KMPT.

New Horizons
New Horizons is a cross-government programme of action published in December 2009, with the twin aims of improving the mental health and well-being of the population, and improving the quality and accessibility of services for people with poor mental health.
It describes an overall strategy and action plan, and includes issues such as early intervention, tackling stigma, promoting wellbeing, and personalisation.
NICE – National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence
The National Institute for Heath and Clinical Excellence is independent organisation responsible for promoting health and preventing illness by providing national guidance and recommendations to the NHS, local authorities and other organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors. They also set quality standards, assessing clinical practices for effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, safety, and patient satisfaction.
No Health without Mental Health
Billed as “A cross-government mental health outcomes strategy for people of all ages”, this program supercedes the December 2009 program “New Horizons: a shared vision for mental health”.
