Help to keep those New Year’s resolutions with Why Weight
Help is at hand for residents who have made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight in 2014 with the return of the Why Weight programme.
Dartford Borough Council, in partnership with Healthy Living Centre Dartford, are continuing to run their successful ‘Why Weight’ scheme which aims to encourage people who are above their recommended healthy weight to lead a healthier lifestyle.
The 12-week course includes weekly meetings, which offer expert advice on food portion control and healthy diet. The meetings also include 30 minute exercise classes to help participants get used to incorporating physical activity into their weekly routines. The courses offer a unique opportunity not only to get expert advice and to lose weight, but to also meet new people, make friends and support each other on the way to a healthier life.
Why Weight is completely free to join and is open to anyone over 18 with a Body Mass Index (BMI) above 28.
Councillor Ann Allen, lead member for health, said, “Why Weight is a motivational scheme that encourages groups of people to work together and support each other in order to achieve a great weight loss goal.”
