On the 5th June the Queen’s Baton Relay 2014 is coming to Kent and visiting Tonbridge, Dartford, Herne Bay, Folkestone and Maidstone.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is happens before every Commonwealth Games, and traditionally takes in all 70 nations of the Commonwealth. The Queen’s Baton Relay began at Buckingham Palace on the 9 October 2013, and always carries a message from the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth, which will be read out as part of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games’ Opening Ceremony. The Relay for this summer’s Glasgow Commonwealth Games 23 July to 3 August.
Details of the Day
Kent has the honour of hosting Day 6 which is Thursday 5th June. 3,300 Kent school children will be involved throughout the day, including INSPIRE Ambassadors as the Baton travels its route through Kent - and why not see the baton at the Tonbridge event?
