JOBS AT WEST KENT MIND Add to Your Support

Do you want an interesting and varied job, working for a forward thinking charity passionate about its mission? We have a new part-time opportunity to join our dynamic and motivated team as Mental Health Action Group (MHAG) Coordinator.
The purpose of this role is to to provide high quality coordination and administration of the 9 bi-monthly MHAG meetings across Kent. Each MHAG comprises commissioners, commissioning agents, service providers, service users, and carers of service users. We are looking for excellent communication and people skills and a strong commitment to the aims and values of West Kent Mind.
Offered as a part-time position of 22 hours per week. £10,523 pro-rata, equivalent to £17,697 full-time. Contract term: permanent.
Closing date is 9am on Monday 3 July. Interviews to be held on Thursday 6 July.

Get on your bike for Rethink Mental Illness Add to Your Support

Rethink Mental Illness are organising a sponsored ‘Cloisters to Oysters’ cycle ride between Canterbury and Whitstable on Sunday 27th August and they want you to be Rethink Mental Illness Cycle Rideinvolved. The funds raised from the event will raise awareness of mental health issues and the work of Rethink Mental Illness.

The cycle event will be two ways from Canterbury to Whitstable and will begin and end at  the Dolphin Public House garden with registration starting at 9am and the ride starting at 11.30am and the event is due to finish approx. 5pm.

The cycle journey each way takes about 1 hour 15 minutes for a moderate rider and is open to people of all cycling abilities.

The cycle ride is being supported by the Crab and Winkle Trust who will be supporting the  event on the day by giving historical information about this route and will include details (with brief talks along the route) of their restorative work to re-establish a complete walking or cycling route between Canterbury and Whitstable.

West Kent Mind are pleased to announce a new free Coping with Life programme to help you challenge unhelpful thinking and behaviour and make positive changes in your life.

‘Managing Depression’ and ‘Managing Stress and Anxiety’ are each programmes of six 90-minute psycho-educational classes held at locations in Ashford, Edenbridge, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks.

Please note that the July meeting has been cancelled.  The next Ashford Mental Health Action Group will be on 14th September 2017, 2-4pm at the Live It Well Centre, Canterbury Road, Ashford, CT12 6NT. The pre-meeting for service users and carers is at 1.30pm to meet in confidence with the chair before the main meeting begins. No need to book, just turn up.
