Supporting Healthy Lifestyles Training is a course designed for managers responsible for teams delivering care to people with Learning Disabilities (LD). The aim is to improve confidence in effectively engaging with staff to discuss and encourage positive health promotion messages for people with LD and their carers. The training will offer tools and skills to aid opening up discussions and facilitate training sessions by managers with other care workers and peers through face to face training sessions. There will also be support from an e-learning package. Examples of some of the health promotion topics covered include: health and wellbeing; healthy eating/lifestyles; keeping fit; support services available to stop smoking and how to access services.
